HOMICIDE IN SELECTED COMMONWEALTH CITIES
The following is a table of homicide statistics in major Commonwealth metropolitan areas. While the precise definition of "homicide" varies slightly from country to country, the crime is generally agreed to consist of acts of murder, infanticide, and manslaughter. All measures have been taken to ensure that only these such incidents have been tabulated. Please also note that all UK statistics are calculated against 2001 population figures and refer to data provided by related constabularies, so where the figures for Glasgow include the entire county of Strathclyde, the figures for London pertain only to the municipality of Greater London, etc. Certain data my also refer to fiscal or operational years, as opposed to a standard Jan-Dec cycle. *please note that the U.S. Census Bureau restructured various MSAs in the year 2002 - as a result figures for certain MSAs in 2002 and 2001 may differ slightly from the years following
